Won't be bought by individuals, but by public transport organizations, mobility assistance services, churches, schools etc for activities where 20 people is enough. Some sprawling parking lots have shuttle buses; hotel and airport shuttles are that size or smaller, usually. Whatever the market is for those, it should be at least that, and maybe more not needing the cost of a driver. Any bus service would be more responsive with more smaller vehicles, and affordable without that cost. And if they can caravan with the leader having someone to deal not with driving but with unexpected navigation issues, they could go on longer trips.
Two conversations. I would be having the first.

1. Have to talk to the guy in a robe. Got to tell him I am skipping the offering if you have an idea to buy a Robovan. Any other priorities? Homeless, hunger, just to name a few.

2. Hey you can't drive the kids to Bible camp. We don't trust you. Could be a bad driver ya know. We want to buy a van for the church that drives itself. Church leader....We already have a two vans that were donated by a car dealership. We don't need those? We need to be in the future? My son. I will pray for you as you ponder these troubling thoughts.

1. Transportation might enable providing more community and member services than a fancy building would; at least unless the building is paid for and not excessive to maintain or heat/cool. Extravagance may be wrong, but sackcloth and ashes and hair shirts won't actually help anyone.

2. You don't buy what there's no reason to buy; but over thousands or tens of thousands of local groups, some of them are replacing old vehicles at any given time.

No real surprises and we are seeing the expected market reaction after the event. Selling covered calls during the run up last month was easy money. I suspect the Optimi interacting with people were remotely controlled from the interactions I saw, I'd like to hear what people at the event thought.

Once upon a time, there were horse & wagons that were pulled down neighborhood streets selling fresh fruit/produce. A one person business selling in certain neighborhoods. Portable specialty store. Milk was delivered right to the door every morning by local dairy company. Bread deliveries also.
Robovan is a portable store. Stock it with stuff needed for the locality, send it to the neighborhoods on a rotating schedule, high tech check out. (There are portable unmanned convenience stores operating in Japan right now).

Robovan is just not for transport of people. It's a moving room.
basically we are heading towards Wall-E were we just sit around

The negative stock and reddit reactions after Tesla events is always expected. On the other hand, Apple stock always jumps after their super boring events and there's still a loyal fanbase a decade after their visionary cofounder has passed and innovation has stalled. Meanwhile, Siri has failed all of my latest tests on the latest beta. Not to jab Apple too hard but I look at current day Apple as a sign of what Tesla will become once Elon is gone. Vision and innovation is replaced by a focus on short term appeasing of shareholders that many casuals latch onto.

I think most people don't understand how difficult cars and autonomy are. Autonomy is obvious but adding just one more car model is a big deal. Cybercab and Robovan have been designed for a long time and will take much longer to set up manufacturing for but Tesla/Elon always deliver (yeah, the supercar Roadster isn't out but there's such a limited number of people affected and most complainers aren't actually in the market).

If you've been along for the ride, Cybertruck and Starship have been a long time coming and we're just now enjoying the rewards of Tesla/SpaceX's hard work. Negative folks are just too short sighted to appreciate the journey.

The event was cool. Just being around a ton of likeminded folk was comforting in a way. The robotaxis and Model Ys driving around autonomously was a good demo of the future.
I didn’t want to wait hours to grab a ride in one. So I just went home FSD in the CT 2 hours to Poway. Then got notice of another upgrade ready to install.
Robotaxi or not, this future, this present, is getting cooler everyday.

I see this as also the foundation (I’m starting to hate that word) for the more affordable sub-30k Tesla..

Just put a steering wheel and pedals with level2 ADAS and call it done. Basically 2 versions of this offering..

the perfect city car… ala BMW i3

this is brilliant!!

Yeah, like Elon 😬

I do find the staggered wheels on the RT to be an odd choice, why make different parts, which also don't allow for front to back tire rotation?

I wonder how it will handle people in wheelchairs or who use walkers. My mom has mobility issues. If the van is going to be used for the public Tesla will also have to make sure people in wheelchairs can get onboard.

Optimus helper of course. They'll both be ready about the same time...
