I agree with Steven that Elon has much bigger goals then making vehicles. This is why Tesla IMO is an all around good bet for the future.

One clip I retain in Steven's YouTube video is the following:

Do you think Tesla is moving in that way strategically over the longer term?

His guess is as good as anyone's.

I do think 'applying Tesla vision to solve general AI' and 'integrate whole building energy/climate solutions'.

Since the current master plan does not include Optimus and Musk has clearly suggested that is Tesla’s most important project right now. It follows that any new master plan will include Optimus in some form or another.

Musk’s master plans tend to have a 10 year horizon and it’s really hard to grasp where they are going when they are first launched. Heck, we’re 6 years after MP2 was released and many people think half of it is nonsense still.

4) Get the stock as high as Steven Mark Ryan keeps claiming it will be.

I'm on board.

Just telling my wife this morning... We need to think what part 10 will be, and then maybe we can better understand plan 3 when we see it.

Build an expensive car
Use that money to finance cheaper car
Change over to renewable energy

Plan 3 :
Build a Robot, include AI, start with dangerous or boring duties
Integrate Robotaxi into our transport system
Prepare escape pods to Mars

One other thought and this is not on their current horizon or anyone’s models.

* Electrification of air transportation.

I can see an air taxi of some sort coming from Tesla in the next 5-10 years which is the typical timeframe for these things.

Air transport is highly compatible with robotaxi type applications. You’d have nodes in each city where air taxis land and take off. A Robotaxi meets you at your destination and takes you to your final destination. These would be highly automated air taxis, little or perhaps no human piloting at all.

This would be a massive difference from current air travel. You would order a flight through an app. The air taxi would be parked and waiting for you and you would walk right up to it and load your gear in the cargo area.

Since the passengers cannot control the plane, there is no risk of hijacking or redirecting the air taxi. Thus no security. No waiting. No ticketing booth, no boarding order, no long term parking lots… just a drop off zone 20 feet from the taxi.

Sorry got rambly.

Anyhow… air taxis. I suspect that is on Tesla’s radar. It might wait until MP4 though.

Air taxis take alot of physical space, tho, and have alot of rules. Elon hates rules.

-Crissa
Seems like the top level of a parking garage would be a nice Air Taxi landing zone. Many parking garages are conveniently located near where an air taxi might want to land.

Musk hates rules. But he deals with them constantly. Or at least someone on his teams does. Lots of rich people would benefit from air taxis and things which rich people want often get miraculous support in congress and with local governments.

It's amazing how Elon can cause so much excitement over a vague tweet. The stock climb over the last 2 days has baffled a lot of so-called experts.
I also found it remarkable, how SMR just brushed aside the fact that Part 2 isn't close to completed in that video. I wonder about the timing of this Tweet myself.

BTW, this is the beginning of Part 2:

The first master plan that I wrote 10 years ago is now in the final stages of completion.

If Robotaxi and robo mass transit take off traffic will be greatly minimized. Less need for air taxi.

Lots of growth stocks have been doing well over the past week.

The market in general had a good week and Tesla was oversold.

Berlin is online, Texas is online, Shanghai shutdown didn’t last more than a couple of days.

Tesla is showing a lot of strength and the stock hasn’t realized any of it yet.

I’m thinking more like going from SF to LA or Sacramento to SF. SF to Lake Tahoe.

I’m not entirely sure SF to LA would be within Air Taxi range, but something with 200-500 mile range would be ideal for a lot of travel.

The air taxis can't go a hundred miles, so San Jose to San Francisco is doable, but San Francisco to Sacramento is not. Lots of rich people want to skip out of town, tho.

But even worse, they can't take straight routes because they have to avoid other air traffic and keep their noise wash off residential areas.

Elon talked about aviation in a podcast. 400Whr per kg was the theoretical minimum density of batteries. What are we at 280? That may have been jets, short range VTO may be different. IDK.

He also said he was too busy to take that on.... but you can tell he looked at it.

I could see evolution in air traffic control allowing VTOL to run in certain altitudes bands and electric powered craft will certainly be quieter. I know it is more complicated than that due to weather, but still room for evolution with new tech.

I think either you or Orge mentioned Elon wouldn't get involved because of the frustration due to regulation. That an Elon's/Tesla bandwidth are why they won't get involved.

There are plenty of start up dedicated to aviation too.
