I do keep a stock of 25 year shelf stable rations as well as canned goods that I rotate through, as well as probably a year's worth of toilet paper. I live in an area with plenty of water and you can't ship that to Africa/Asia so not really a concern, though I have been considering a bidet for reduced septic load as you say.

Sounds good. BTW You can ge retrofit bidets that are integrated into normal toilet seats, they work quite well and can even be installed without the need of a plumber. Ideally, you'd use warm water though, it's more comfortable.

The water thing is actually energy related, in that a lot of water is made with desalination plants, even in the US and that if those plants could be made "affordable" in third world nations, and powered, it would actually make a difference. If someone would finance them there.

It’s true. Not great news. I’m sure they wouldn’t have been cut. I wonder why they weren’t rotated to SpaceX or X.ai, like they’ve been trying to do with the engineers when they get burnt out?
These guys have been there for ages, they don't need the money at this point.

Um... no. The percentage of water produced by desalination in the US at this time is insignificant.
Do you have numbers to support that?
Have you compared them to developing nations? Show your work.

The cuts keep coming. Gotta be hardcore.

Elon Musk has dismissed two Tesla senior executives and plans to lay off hundreds more employees, frustrated by falling sales and the pace of job cuts so far, The Information reported on Tuesday, citing the CEO's email to senior managers.

Rebecca Tinucci, senior director of the electric vehicle maker's Supercharger business, and Daniel Ho, head of the new vehicles program, will leave on Tuesday morning, the report said.

Some examples of the chaos caused by the mass firing of the supercharger team. Large numbers of planned charger sites in limbo and no one to contact about it left at Tesla, OEM's questioning the move to NACS and possibly shifting back to CCS because they can't trust Tesla. Seems like a disaster in the making.

Now comes the belated damage control.

Just to reiterate: Tesla will spend well over $500M expanding our Supercharger network to create thousands of NEW chargers this year. That’s just on new sites and expansions, not counting operations costs, which are much higher.

Just like many other dumb chaos, this "defund supercharger" idiocy was manufactured and blown out of proportions by main stream media and stooges who do not understand EM or Tesla. Has anyone really thought for a second that EM or T would intentionally sabotage the Supercharging network? With the long proven history of them building the best, efficient, resilient, consistent charging infrastructure? Really? Not totally impossible but very highly improbable!

Here is what happened: an order came down for 10% staff cut that Superchargers management disagreed with and attempted to challenge by playing a game of "no no no, all our staff is essential and none will be cut", which followed by the only appropriate response - you are all (literally all) terminated. None in that department were "irreplaceable" and invoking that socialistic crap should've had and got responded by the only one possible response - letting them all go.

New people will be hired and life will go on, including maintenance and development of supercharging network. Rest assured, the Supercharger network will remain operational and continue to grow.

It was a direct result of Elon's failure to control the narrative. He generates easily avoidable bad press and then has to scramble to fix the damage created. A simple pre-emptive press release like:

"We are restructuring our Supercharging Teams to allow continued progress in a more efficient manner going forward. If your previous contacts are no longer responding please contact us here @____________"

See how easy that is?
