Texas Public Policy foundation is claiming EVs get all the subsidies and the "poor, little & powerless" fossil fuel industry & legacy auto get nothing (subsidies), the pollution harms caused by fossil fuels production/transport/refining, burning fossil fuels, climate change are too small to even mention, unconscionable (must be unconstitutional, right?) burden of regulation, and they (fossil fuel industry & legacy auto) are the real victims NOT the 100s millions people harmed by pollution.

$17.33 Per Gallon Equvialent? Have You The Brainworms?!
A viewer pointed us to a paper from the Texas Public Policy foundation in which they claim that the real cost per mile for EVs is much, much higher than any number we've seen from any other calculations. It seemed...odd, and so, at his request we took a look.

Hi Kate. Sorry to have to correct you, but fossil fuel subsidies increased to $7 trillion in 2022, so that's now $221,968 a second. At the same time, oil and gas profits increased from $1.5 trillion to $4 trillion due to the war profiteering since the invasion of Ukraine. Great world we live in, ain't it!?

The purpose of these ā€˜papers’ is just to give people on the anti EV side something to point at. If they can end an argument with you both agreeing to disagree then they really won because they had no argument otherwise.
A draw is a win in their case.

@sambira
The graphic at 15:00 is hilarious. They outline what they believe it takes to produce electricity that goes into the EV while thinking that somehow pumping and refining of oil to gasoline requires no electricity itself to produce the gasoline that then has to be transported (and possibly spilled) on its way to the user. Also, lets not forget about the fact that almost every gas vehicle has to drive to a location to get more gas, thus using more gas, while an EV can just stay in the garage and get charged. One additional item to remember if you know anything about Texas. Those windmills in Texas are used to produce electricity that is used by the oil and gas industry because the electricity is cheaper from those sources than it is from their own refining and using their own products. Also, never mind that the grid can always get more renewable and thus less dirty while the gas pipeline is the best it's probably ever going to get. Once again, the graphic is hilarious.
