Exactly what I was thinking when I asked. I'm was thinking of starting my Cybertruck trailer build soon which I want to ship to the USA for a round trip next year, and am wondering just how many solar panels I need to drive around without needing to charge up everywhere. I'm still tossing up if a bed camper will do us or not, especially if we stay longer. Airbnb's seem to be an option to spread out if you stay in one area otherwise. It's just harder to get the panels on just the bed camper, but then the trailer uses more power to pull. What to do? ?

Minimum…affixed to trailer. Otherwise two vehicles are recharging. And the solar s.f. would dual-use topping up CT, if needed. Backcountry, surfing, desert, roadside pulloffs and hunting it’d be the BeesKnees setup.

Yep, I was serious too. The local petrol station ran out of fuel. You would think they would have had a standby to replenish after all these years. It has to be BYO solar.

What to do is quite easy... if you can park for a week or two, with 1200W I guess you can hop scotch around. I reckon you would be 90% covered by Superchargers by 2024/5

The alternatives are this :
1. Bring a nuclear reactor with you.
2. Enjoy the trip, and use Airbnb

I think, it's really in Au or US, the issue is the same. I don't plan to spend a year in a box, I intend to Airbnb occasionally. maybe trip to Bali etc. to break it up.

I think sufficient solar to get out of a jam, plan an out of the way adventure where time is your friend.

I concluded best plan is for some compromises, rather than the nuclear reactor.

Oh there you are! You've been offline for a week, we figured you went and bought a F-150

The demand was much higher than usual. We brought enough liquids for ten days and used it in 6. Many RVs sat with their AC running to make up for lack of shade and high temps which didn't abate into the night (which is unusual in the high desert).

There are only so many trucks available to haul fuel and supplies and the demand outstrips it pretty easily.

I used a bunch of AC the first day while we got the sun shade up... Honestly, I'd have used it more but the tent is too enclosed to idle the engine. I can't wait to have an EV. But either way, I always paced it so I wouldn't use the range we'd need to get back to Fernley or at least the stations in the Pyramid Lake reservation.

How close is the nearest supercharger?

They're building one in Fernley. Currently the nearest is at the Atlantis or Circus Circus in Reno (yuck).

Alot of the fixed sunshades and RVs don't have the wind protection needed to have them out in the 50-mph winds we'd withstand sometime during the week. We chose a spot that ended up a bit more exposed and channeled the little dust devils right into our tent. Collapsed the spars at one point, very frustrating. But it was my design and it failed gracefully. Next time I'll fix the mistakes I made in this one.

Did you A/C a tent or did you have a RV as well? Seems like an uncomfortable stay with high winds, lots of other people with generators on, and nowhere to go for some heat relief, like you know a beach. Maybe I'm too Aussie, i don't go for a holiday anywhere I can't wear my budgie smugglers and go for a dip. Lol ?

The CyberTruck would be great for Burning Man if you had a decent sized solar panel to charge up over the week your truck is parked. The problem for me (on a village build crew) is that I've never been to Burning Man without at least a half a dozen runs into the Reno Lowes to pick up essential additional supplies. ?
But being on a build/cleanup crew is the best way to avoid exodus and the entry line. Early pass a week in advance means you MIGHT have to wait behind 3 cars to get thru the gate ? Staying to clean up gets you out even easier.

A post and a couple pictures from my camping trip? I didn't take the first one, I found it on the news. The second one is of our tent and my bicycle with the sun shade. We call the tent 'Yellow Hanger' for the big yellow doors ^-^

No. And no! Just the Mazda 3. The tent gives us various levels of shade, channels the wind and gives us a dust-free space (the inner tent). We usually use thermal mass of the car cooled off from the near-freezing weather at night... But this time we employed the time-honored 'pub crawl for ice or cool, wet cloths because of the very low (7-14%) humidity.
