In my discussion I was considering any ability to charge a "charging port", including a 110VAC outlet. The problem is that in an apartment complex, you don't just need a simple 110VAC outlet. You need one that either is on the tenants electric meter, have the ability to measure and charge for...
The catch-22 scenario isn't there with having a pool, air conditioning or other ammenities. If apartment buildings don't have EV charging ability, aparment dwellers wont buy EV's. If apartment dwellers don't have EV's there's no reason for apartment buildings to have EV charging ability.
The reason the government should step in is because if it doesn't, there'll be a stalemate. If I live in an apartment complex and apartment complexes don't have charging ports, I won't buy an EV. If no apartment tenants by EV's there's no reason for apartments to put in charging...
I am not defending Ford or ICE for that matter. Just want to share what I got from the video. From what the guys in the video were saying, I don’t think electric vs. ICE had anything to do with the Model 3 winning. From what they said I understood the reason the Mustang lost was two things...
I would just like to point out that every automobile control system on the road now (with extremely few exceptions) works on vision/light alone.
<To be clear, I’m talking about humans>.
The way I understand it, Level 3 must have a human driver available. Level 4 does not have to have a human driver. If I'm correct in that interpretation, that's a significant difference between Level 3 and 4.
There seems to be a lot of interpretation on the different levels. My understanding is:
Level 0 - No autonomy Human only.
Level 1 - AI can control speed OR steering. (Typically speed via adaptive cruise control). Human must pay attention and take over when needed.
Level 2 - AI can...
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't at least one camera behind the (wiper cleared) windshield?
In full level 5 FSD I would expect the car to slow down or possibly even pull over if it determined the rain was coming down so hard it could not safely continue. Unlike multiple (human...
@Quicksilver I find your posts on this topic very well written. I rarely find someone who brings out that side of the argument so well. Thank you.
@Diehard your rebuttal to @Quicksilver's post is also very well written. You hit the same points I wanted to but you did it much better than I...
Steering wheel shape
I'm cautiously optimistic that I will like the new shape. Or at least not dislike it.
Automatic direction selection (Forward/Reverse)
I will of course have to try it before having an informed opinion, but right now I can think of many scenarios where I can't see how it...
https://www.nhtsa.gov/technology-innovation/automated-vehicles
In level 4 "under certain conditions" means things like within a given area (geofencing), only during the day, only during dry weather conditions etc. If there is any condition that the automous vehicle cannot drive in that a...
@Crissa good thought, I was thinking that too. However skin effect is seen mainly with alternating current (AC). Direct Current (DC) tends to use the entire cross section of the conductor.
