EV's will need more computing power(and chips) as they continue to evolve. Elon has stated as such.
Compare the 2012 Model S to the current Model S Plaid in terms of computing power. How much more advanced will Tesla's be in 10 years(including AI)?
TSMC plans to launch its 2nm production in 2025.
"Recently, IBM announced the 2 nm chip technology breakthrough which will allow a chip to fit up to 50 billion transistors in a space the size of a fingernail. VTFET innovation focuses on a whole new dimension, which offers a pathway to the continuation of Moore's Law." IBM and Samsung have announced a Semiconductor Breakthrough that will power Smartphone batteries for a week & much more
Computer chip companies are taking note:
Tech giant Micron Technology is considering a $40 billion chipmaking plant in Central Texas
TSMC may have to budget a higher capex for 2022 than the record-high US$30 billion allocated last year, as strong 5nm, 7nm and 28nm chip demand encourages it to build additional fab capacities, according to industry sources.
