Except FSD doesn't need to be perfect, it just needs to be better than a human. It's already there for very large swaths of road system. Tesla could geofence off the areas where disengagements and corner cases are happening, and FSD magically just became good enough. They could literally do this...
You bring up a good point about Elon being distracted and perhaps not leading Tesla in the way he used to. But that makes me wonder about a potential catalyst for the stock: if the BOD were to approve a new compensation package for Elon, that could do a lot to improve the situation.
Never a...
You perfectly describe the prevailing narrative (expectation) about Tesla. It assumes tesla's growth story is over. That may be the current expectation, but it is short term thinking. When expectations are for no growth, and all the sudden something changes to show promise of strong growth to...
Stocks (especially this stock) perform based on expectations, not on the reality of the earnings. Q1 expectations are extremely low. The word bloodbath has been used so many times already. Seems ripe for an upside surprise.
Outlook also has a big role in this. The Q4 outlook was basically worst...
Quick google search says 830 cells per model Y. So this equates to about 12,000 model Y's, or half as many CT's. Doesn't this seem kind of low? Or are more 4680's coming from somewhere else?
Edit: I see Crissa added a second post with more info. Seems like a reasonable ramp rate. Hopefully...
My main question is this: If Tesla's network grows to become the dominant (but not the only) source of fast charging for ALL EV's, would it be illegal (antitrust? monopolistic practices?) for them to raise the per-kWh rate for non-tesla vehicles in a few years once everyone is dependent on them...
I might be over thinking this a little. Just trying to look ahead to when Ford and GM are pumping out more EVs than they are now. Tesla chargers will become overrun with EV's if they don't expand at the same pace that EV's are produced. They now have to keep up with the production of 3...
You're right, and any new chargers built by other brands will now benefit Tesla. But do we really see any other entity building anywhere near as many chargers as Tesla? Why would they, when Tesla is now basically forced to massively expand their own network.
Tesla still ends up with a massive...
Spectacular news. But, doesn't this mean GM and Ford no longer have any incentive to build out their own charge networks? They can just rely on Tesla for that from here on out.
I suppose that's ok as long as Tesla builds enough new chargers to keep up with total EV sales in NA. To do that...
I think investors (retail and institutions) actually care a TON about the status of cybertruck production. There is a strong narrative that Tesla is going to need more models in its lineup to drive steady increases in deliveries, and cybertruck is huge part of that. The CT delays have taken away...
I used to work in the next room over from Webb when it was in the cleanroom at Ball Aerospace, circa 2009. I remember back then the launch date was supposed to be 2015, which seemed like forever away. But the instrumentation was so advanced, the science that would come out of this thing would be...
I asked my sister about this. She works for CNET's parent company, and manages new advertisers and sponsor campaigns for their multiple media outlets. I sent her the side by side comparison of the two different articles and asked if she see's the problem. I also asked if Lexus is a paid sponsor...
I just don't get it. When Elon says he wants to improve/protect "freedom of speech" on Twitter, what exactly does he mean? Open source algorithms would be great. Sure.
But it sounds more like he wants to allow people to spread false information and hate speech. How is he planning to tackle...
I looked into doing this, and my conclusion was that in order to deduct the cost of the truck, you have to be able to prove (with verifiable mileage logs) that the truck is used more than 50% of the time for work. It's a big red flag for the IRS, and there's a decent chance of getting an audit.
Perhaps Elon will just ignore the Ford fiasco and keep on keeping on. OR, perhaps he will respond by RELEASING THE PRODUCTION SPECS, PRODUCTION DATE, AND PRICING for the CYBERTRUCK on the same day Ford starts delivering vehicles. 4/26. That would be a great response...
I believe TSLA is still in the beginning stages of its exponential uptrend. If that is true, then holding shares for 5-10 years could be very profitable. If there's anything I've learned over the last four years as a TSLA investor, it's better to hold long term than to try and time your trades...
The total lack of inclusion of Tesla in any of the Whitehouse's EV and climate change PR is a bit stunning. Is it because Tesla is anti-union? I'm sure Ford and GM CEO's hate unions too. Seems more like a personal feud between Musk and Biden/Democrats in general.
Or, perhaps, did the...
They support Biden on BBB, He supports them. It's pretty simple. I know Elon is philosophically opposed to government subsidies, but it's clearly not in Tesla's interest to not have a seat at the table here. I hope Elon comes to his senses on this and starts working WITH the government, not...
