A firestorm precipitated by higher than normal temperatures and stronger than normal winds.

Climate change. Things are burning that usually don't, in a way they haven't before.

Do you not want to pay for roads?

Gas prices will increase as less is used and demanded....Economics 101.
I thought the demand curve was that the higher the demand, the higher the price. And the higher the supply, the lower the price.

In that case, the less gas that is used or demanded, the more that will be available, and the lower the price will go.

The modifier to that would be that as the price drops, it will become too expensive to drill or refine so some wells and refineries will be shut off which will lower supply and prop the price back up for a while.

And somewhere along the line things like the strategic reserves will come into play in some way. But that would be a more advanced Econ class beyond my level of experience.

As the demand for motor fuel drops the suppliers will divert their resources to the segments of the economy which still need petroleum products such as petrochemicals. The economies of scale in mogas will be lost. Eventually the production will slow to a trickle (like that of vacuum tubes today - a 12AX7 costs from $13 - 100). You will still be able to get it. It is used, for example, to determine the bitterness of beer. But the price will go up.

So you don't accept wearing a helmet on a motorcycle or a seatbelt in a car? Or not selling cigs to kids? Or drunk driving? Or stopping at a red light?

Our lives are ruled by force-fed restrictions and requirements. We object initially but eventually stop thinking about them.
Safety is another issue completely. So if the Governor decreed tomorrow that you could only wear red jackets would all the lemmings run out and suit up?

So here is the real question, WHO exactly is "THE WEALTHY," and WHO gets to make that determination? Careful where you point that spear, it may come around like a boomerang.

Sometimes people need to be told what to do.... they're simply too dense to understand...like smoking and seatbelts.
Sounds like you have spent a long time as a CO, here in the free world we have these things called elections and while on that topic be careful who you vote for, there are consequences for your vote. If you need evidence, take a moment and look at what is taking place in Portlandia if you have any doubts about it.

The answer to that question is really, really easy. So easy that any fool can give it with 100% accuracy every time. The wealthy include all persons who have more than you do. I am all for taxing the wealthy.

1)Go hire expensive lawyers, accountants and financial advisors to construct elaborate schemes to protect yourself from these thieves to the extent possible.
2)Vote for the least worst candidate.
3)Try to contract a disease with very expensive treatments so you can get some of your money back through medicare. Pretty much any disease will do these days.
4)Go on welfare.

Gasoline, tolls, registration taxes do not cover the cost of roads. Lots of the roads funds comes from taxes on income. Amazon trucks and vans trundle all over roads, yes they pay tolls and registration etc but they don't pay income so in effect we are subsidizing a company that makes billions. That is what is meant by taxing the rich.

Soon we need to switch from a gasoline tax to maintain roads with something based on use or per vehicle. As more EVs hit the roads it will be necessary. Some state already have an EV tax in addition to so-called wheel taxes.

Take the money wasted on liberal "feel good" programs and use it for roads. Voila!
Yeah, I mean, you're right, we should just pave infinite lanes on the highways, that will totally solve the...

Wait, no, it won't. Also we need sidewalks and busses and trains to reduce the traffic on the highways and make it possible for people who aren't into driving to skip it altogether.

Getting cars off the road and making things like bus lanes and trains reduces traffic so the roads are open when we want to drive on them. Instead of clogged with careless, terrible drivers who 'have' to drive instead of 'want' to drive.

No one elected the police, and the police have been violating the rules by using gas, shooting people with pepper and rubber, physical assault, vehicular assault, and doing general property damage such as slashing tires and destroying food vending equipment.

Not to mention the arrests without warrants, due cause, officers identifying their agency, or follow through.

All of these things have been caught on camera. No police have been brought before court for any of these activities.

Thanks, I'll put that in the "DEFCON" manual here at the home and if I need to activate the plan I'll know the appropriate steps to take. ;)
